NORFOLK, Va. -- Two Lady Monarch field hockey players were selected to the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) All-State team, as announced by the organization on Friday afternoon.
Junior defender Catalina Barahona was named to the first team, while senior midfielder Sarah Breen was selected to the second team.
Barahona was the only Lady Monarch to pick up first team honors after leading the defense to three shutouts and a 1.74 goals-against average. She topped the conference rankings with three defensive saves, which also ranked 24th in the nation. During the season, she dished out six assists and scored the game-winning goal in overtime against Wake Forest.
