Brandon James Places Third at Cleveland State Open

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Competing unattached at 133 pounds, Old Dominion freshman Brandon James placed third at the Cleveland State Open out of 16 wrestlers in his weight class.

James opened up the tournament with a fifty-second fall over Lock Haven's Lewis Williams before besting Notre Dame's David Bavery, 8-6, in the quarterfinal round. In the semis, James dropped a narrow 5-4 decision to eventual champion Ben Lamantia of Michigan. James went on to secure third place with a dominant 17-2 tech fall over Ohio's Joel Shump.

Competing in the 157 bracket, Austin Eads defeated Bloomsurg's Ryan Dougherty, 4-2, in the first round before falling to Gardner-Webb's Kyle Ash, 8-3, in round two.
