Baseball | ODU records second straight shutout

Three pitchers combined for Old Dominion’s second consecutive shutout to open the season, this time blanking Kent State 2-0 on Saturday at the Caravelle Resort Tournament.

Left-hander Jake Josephs went five innings, allowing four hits to get the win. Culver Lamb (Tallwood) went 3.2 innings and Nate Matheson struck out the only batter he faced to finish. The Monarchs shut out No. 10 North Carolina State in their opener Friday.

Kurt Sinnen (Kellam) hit an RBI single in the first inning and Connor Myers added a sacrifice fly in the second. No ODU batter had more than one hit.
