BLOOMINGTON – Even now, Tom Allen admits he wasn’t comfortable with the state of his pass rush heading into last season.

His defense responded with 33 sacks, the sixth-best total in the Big Ten and the best number the Hoosiers have posted since 2007. And yet, with fall camp set to open Wednesday, Allen finds himself fretting again.

“I think a year ago, we sat here, and I was extremely concerned about it,” Allen said. “Still concerned. You’ve got to pressure.”

That concern won’t be eased by news Allen broke Tuesday, during team media day, that redshirt junior defensive end Nile Sykes will miss the entire 2017 season through injury.
