Doyel: Breakthrough? Not quite. IU breaks down against Buckeyes

BLOOMINGTON – New coach. New buzz. New national platform.

Same Indiana.

Before we rush into this story even one more yard — or, in Indiana’s case, minus-2 yards — let’s get the disclaimers and all that other fair stuff out of the way: The Hoosiers won’t play another defensive front this season as dominant as the one they saw Thursday night from No. 2 Ohio State, which handed IU a 49-21 beating in the Memorial Stadium debut of new IU coach Tom Allen, and the Memorial Stadium return of former IU coach Kevin Wilson.

The Buckeyes have future NFL players coming off the bench at defensive tackle and defensive end, but overall this OSU team doesn’t look as good as some of Urban Meyer’s previous teams in Columbus.
