Chris Curry spent almost an entire weekend on his cell phone last June trying to, essentially, get rid of his best player.

Curry, UALR's second-year baseball coach, didn't want outfielder Ryan Scott leaving the Trojans, of course. But with teams selecting players in the Major League Baseball first-year player draft, Curry said he felt Scott, of North Little Rock, deserved to be included.

"I was telling scouts, 'Ryan is ready to go, and you can get him,' " Curry said. "Maybe, I'm crazy, but I believe when you do people right, it works out."

It's been just fine for the Trojans so far this season.
