In what amounted to a successful job interview, Wes Flanigan met with Chasse Conque to plead his case late Monday night.
Conque, UALR's athletic director, was starting a search for a new men's basketball coach after Chris Beard accepted the UNLV job Sunday. Flanigan, UALR's associate head coach under Beard, was eager to put his name into the discussion for the open position.
Flanigan, a Little Rock Parkview graduate who had twice served as a UALR assistant coach, had several qualifications that made him a logical candidate. He had been an assistant in the Big 12, Big Ten and the SEC, and he was considered a proven recruiter who knows the area.
